Winter Wonderland Part 2: Cliché Christmas Nail Art Designs

This section is for anyone who totally submerges themselves into the Christmas spirit. These are for the people who find it hard to resist wearing novelty Christmas jumpers or Elf suits when it’s Xmas.

These nail art designs really push the festive boat out, they wouldn’t be able to work their magic in any other season apart from Christmas. But don’t worry, they won’t spoil your beautiful image this Christmas, they’ll keep you looking cute, cheery and content this Christmas.

Style: Fun / Novelty / Popular Christmas Features

Christmas Tree, Snowman and Presents

Christmas Trees

Christmas Tree Nail Art DesignTo achieve the Christmas tree design there is no guessing that you’ll need a pretty green shade. From the top of the nail downwards you can draw an upside down triangle with the green and then look to colour it in.

Once you have your bland tree set up you can then adjust its decoration just like the real thing. Adding a star at the top of the point or covering your tree with colourful contrasting dots for baubles are probably the best ways of sprucing up your tree.

Presents

Christmas Present Nail ArtPossibly everyone’s favourite feature of Christmas – presents. These little treats can be easily resembled on top of your nails. Simply go for a box design using any colour, then add some of the trims you’d expect to see on a real life Christmas prezzie – bow decorations at the top or criss-crossing bands going through the centre are usually popular designs.

Snowmen

Snowman Nail Art DesignThe only men you can leave out in the cold this Christmas, Snowmen! These cute and plump figures litter our snowy streets most winters; they’re one of the staple Christmas fantasy figures after Father Christmas and his Elves.

To create a Snowman nail art design you’ll need a clean white to resemble his body, before this you can use a greyish blue for a winter sky backdrop. Draw out his figure onto your nails and use darker colours to give him some buttons or a hat. An orange shade will be perfect to draw on for his scarf or an apt carrot nose.

Christmas Reindeer, Santa and Robin

Rodulph

Reindeer Nail Art DesignWithout Rudolph and his friends Santa would find it extremely hard get around on Christmas Day. With this in mind, why not pay homage to the iconic fictional reindeer by using his design as a unique piece of nail art.

To decorate your nails with Rudolph designs you will need two shades of brown, one dark and one light. The light brown colour will help you to achieve his body and the dark brown is saved for his antlers on top of his head, or vice versa. Once this is complete and dried you can then add a red nose, a pair of eyes and a cute little collar for the reindeer to flaunt.

Robin

Robin Nail Art DesignMany traditional Christmas cards feature a cute little robin perched innocently puffing out their chest. You can easily recreate this scene on your nails with some sweet Robin redbreast designs.

For cute Robin designs your core colours will need to be brown, orange/red and black. First off depending what way up you want your Robin, try drawing out the bird’s little feet in black. Then above the legs, grab your brown varnish and slowly recreate the Robins body, plopping a splodge of orange/red onto his chest. You can then give him a tiny beak and beady eyes using the left over black or a colour of your choice.

Father Christmas

Santa Nail Art DesignHo! Ho! Ho! Father Christmas is one of the most pivotal Xmas figures. His image is so distinctive it shouldn’t be hard to fashion a Santa lookalike on your nails. The contrasting colours of red, white and black is all you need.

Take your red varnish to paint the top of his hat, using the white at the bottom for a cloud-like fluffy trim which should give Santa’s hat unmistakable detail. Underneath this you can paint on his eyes with the black as well as giving him some rosy red cheeks and a white bushy beard. If you’re feeling extra brave, you can finely draw a black outline around his hat and face to further pronounce the design.

If this isn’t enough then there are other Christmas nail art designs that can help encapsulate the festive season just as well as the ones above.

Designs such as:

  • Penguins
  • Wintery Trees
  • Candy Canes
  • Christmas Pudding
  • Bells & Holly

Winter Wonderland Part 1: Winter Nail Art Designs

Seeing as we’ve just entered the enchanting month of December, and with Christmas just around the corner, I wanted to use my first ‘how to guide’ to share some winter inspired nail art designs.

Sparkle and glitter has now gone up a notch, old tinsel has been ploughed out the boxes, fairy lights are preparing to droop across the walls and symbolic Christmassy ornaments are dusted off and ready to transform into festive features once more.

For those who fully embrace this special month, you’ll want to try and do everything you can to really create that Christmas spirit. One of the ways in which I can help is by sharing a few Christmas nail art designs to let you install glamour, identity and cuteness to your nails this Christmas. This is a brilliant way to display your Christmas cheer and personalise your nails in line with the season.

For That Sparkled & Glamorous Effect

This section is for those who would like to pay respect to the Christmas season without overdoing the clichés. These nail art designs draw inspiration from the pretty Christmas lights that are turned on in town, glimmering snowflakes that drift in the winter air, frozen icicles that sparkle on vast landscapes and other special Christmas twinkles that get our eyes wondering.

These winter nail art designs will give you a glitzy finish if you’re preparing for a family event or Christmas party.

Style: Glamorous / High End / Swanky

Snowflakes, Icicles and Christmas Lights –

These designs can even be applied well after Christmas, making them a favourite for anyone who would like to dabble with festivity but not entirely commit to Christmas cliches.

Snowflake Nail Art Design

Snowflake Nail Art DesignAll you’ll need to recreate the shimmer of snowflakes is some white nail polish and glitter. Although there’s an opportunity to buy ready-made designs, recreating your very own snowflake design usually only requires a steady hand.

For the silent night scene you can try painting your nails in a deep black, this provides the night sky. Once dried you can continue finely drawing the outlines of your snowflakes using a white polish or even better a white nail polish including glitter.

Icicles Nail Art Design

Icicle Nail Art DesignIcicles are just as easy to resemble. A decent way to recreate some delicate dangling icicles is by using a light or dark blue polish to paint all over your nail. Once the base colour has dried you can then use a silver glittery polish to draw on those drooping icicles from the top of your nail. These can all shine at different lengths but try to give them a pointed top for that sharp icicle image.

Christmas Lights Nail Art Design

Christmas Lights Nail Art DesignChristmas Lights can be used on a variety of background colours or can even be drawn onto a blank nail. The thing to remember with Christmas lights is to use a dark colour for the wires, black is probably best, simply squiggle out your wires before decorating. Once you have your black wires you can then add colourful 3D gems or paint dots to represent the Christmas lights.

Christmas is so much more than sparkling lights and twinkling snowflakes -> so look out for my next blog where I tackle more festive features including Snowmen, Rudolf and Father Christmas nail art designs.
